Q: What is somatic coaching?
A: Somatic coaching is an approach that accesses the internal healing resources of the body (soma) for relief, peace, or personal growth. It involves using gentle movement, breathwork, and body awareness techniques to help you release stored tension, process emotions, and develop a deeper connection with yourself. Q: Is this therapy?
A: No. Somatic coaching is not psychotherapy, counseling, or a clinical mental-health treatment. The beauty of somatic work is that we focus on the present moment: working with breath, movement and sensation to support regulation, awareness, and transformation. Instead of analyzing or reliving past experiences, we gently shift attention away from thinking and toward embodied wisdom, helping you access the tools your nervous system already has for healing, resilience, and growth.Somatic coaching complements therapy beautifully, but it is a different modality with a different aim: cultivating capacity, presence, and embodied change.Q: What can I expect in a session?
A: Each session is tailored to your needs, so you can expect a gentle, supportive experience that helps you connect more deeply with yourself. The breathwork, movement, and guided meditation techniques are all nurturing and gentle, with lots of choices at every step of the way. You are always in full control of what you choose to practice and we will work to ensure safety and comfort at every step. Q: Is breathwork hard?
A: Not at all. While certain breath techniques can require advanced practice and mastery, the types of breathing we will practice - particularly at the beginning - are all much more natural, gentle and meditative. Everyone breathes, "breathwork" in our context is about awareness and mindful interaction. Q: Do I need any prior experience with yoga or breathwork?
A: Not at all! Whether you’re a complete beginner or have experience, I will guide you every step of the way, ensuring you feel comfortable and supported.Q: What should I wear or bring to a session (in-person or online)?
A: Anything is fine, I just recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move or sit freely. You might also want to bring a water bottle and a journal if you have one. Q: How often should I attend sessions for the best results?
A: The frequency of sessions depends on your personal goals and needs. Some clients find that weekly or monthly sessions work best, while others are simply looking to explore in a single session. We can work together to find a schedule that suits you best.
